The word Tala is a Sanskrit term meaning 'to clap' or 'to mark time'. It is one of the two main components within Classical Indian music, Raga, 'melody' and Tala, 'rhythm'. Tala Records was conceived by Ty Burhoe as a home-grown label focusing on the release of unique collaborations that weave together different world traditions.
Tala Record's family of diverse, open-minded musicians continues to grow and expand into new territory. We have many exciting projects in the works and invite you to join our expanding family of listeners from around the world.
